A cool overcast day allowed
for easy photography of this chainsaw sculpture that we stumbled upon
while canoeing down the Amite River on an Easter Saturday.
Sunny conditions would have
cause a high contrast situation as I photographed into a bright sky with a
relatively dark crucifix. The conditions were perfect.

My mountain: Mt. Yonah, Helen, GA.
I was able to do a drive--by of Mt. Yonah over Christmas
holidays ('04). Time didn't allow me to hike up the Mountain, but I will
return another day.
I often hiked around this place and sat upon outcrops to
 watch the
turkey vultures during my stay at Truett- McConnell College '87-89. Love story of Mt. Yonah,

by the white settlers to the mountain in White County, but the Cherokees
called it "Gada-lulu", an untranslatable name. Prior to the
establishment of White County in 1857, a town near the base of the
mountain was called "Mt. Yonah". It was later called
"Cleveland" and is the county seat of White County. |
